Yes these are warnings. But then warnings are there so
you'll look at the code and correct if necessary.
If you're nervous about the autoconf test that's fine.
I can always correct pyconfig.h after configure runs.
But the Modules/socketmodule.c patch should be applied. The code
there is just pain wrong.

I've used the autoconf bits in OpenSSH and now in my local
Python 2.3
tree. I've been using the socketmodule patch since the 2.2.2
beta days.
But 2.2.2 uses autoconf 2.13 so the autoconf bits don't work
there.

I don't know why Albert chose getpeername for the test. I
strongly
suspect you could use accept, getsockopt, getsockname,
recvfrom, or
any socket call that has the length option you're testing for.
On UnixWare the test progtram (using int) produces the error
identifier redeclared: getpeername causing cc to return with
a non 0.
