Since non-ASCII characters are not really supported in hostnames, I changed mine to a saner alternative. This issue can be closed then, since any test failure I encounter can no longer be because of this.

One last thing: is it safe to say "Don't use non-ASCII in hostnames" and not bother supporting such edge cases? Whichever way we end up going, I think this should be documented somewhere (although I don't really have an idea of where). I can submit a doc patch for this.
