I had to do `sudo sh ./patch_readline_issue_18458.sh` or the patch script itself would cause Python to crash.

After applying this patch, I got the following output, and the problem is still *not* solved for me:

-- running on OS X 10.9
 -- 2.7 does not need to be patched - skipped
 -- 3.2 not found - skipped
 -- 3.3 not found - skipped
 -- 3.4 not found - skipped
