Nick, you don't seem to be truly sold on the need.
I'm -1 on adding this.  It's basically cruft.  If
it were published as an ASPN recipe, its uptake
would be nearly zero.

We need to focus on real problems in the standard 
library and provide solid solutions.  If weight
gets added to the standard lib, it needs to be
selective.
