The package Lib/pydoc_data is not installed by Makefile.pre.in. Because of this "pydoc if" won't work. The attached patch fixes this issue. I've applied this patch to the trunk (r72787) and py3k (r72788), and filed this issue because I'm not 100% sure if this should be backported to 2.6 (because this fix causes additional python modules to be made available). (Assigned to Georg Brandl because he committed the last changes to pydoc_data, and is the documentation guru) |

Thanks for fixing! There's no need to backport; the pydoc_data package is new in 2.7/3.1. |
