I agree with Christian that we should wait until 3.0 is out.  Using A
DVCS should make this much easier if anyone needs an excuse to learn bzr.

I think we should aim to commit the 30bit change (a pretty clear win by
the looks of things) after 3.0 is released and py3k branch is unfrozen
and continue work from there to determine what to do with the others.
