No no no, please don't.

Apart from FreeBSD, illumos distros are the only really hard-core UNIX OS'es still freely available, the features taken into account. 
SMF, dtrace and several hypervisor types makes illumos really stand out.

I understand that there are resources that need to be assigned to maintaining Python on illumos/SunOS, but please reach out to their communities, maybe someone can help.
