I concur with Serhiy and Terry.  Marking this as "closed/rejected".  

Adding more-ways-to-it usually doesn't make users better-off (more to learn, more to remember, more to choose from, creating a new question about whether or not to use re.search(), creating another inter-version API difference, etc.)
