I believe we're just waiting on review and additional feedback on GH-17311, which implements Antoine's proposal. The only remaining component I can think of is the "What's New" entry, but I was planning on doing that in a separate PR so that we could get the security fix out there first (and simplify the merge conflicts for the backports).
