Changing the default install directory in a maintenance release is not okay.

Users who are concerned about security can change the install directory, and bugs that arise as a result will be considered on their own merits.

Alternatively, you can obtain Python 2.7 from one of the companies who maintain a distribution (such as Continuum Analytics). Some of them default to a secure install directory.
