I've just been too busy to code the patch,
but I'm glad to see that mbrierst stepped
up to the plate.

I do find the feature rather useful, but for a
more thorough discussion, the original thread
from c.l.py can be read.  Here is A. Martelli's take
on the issue, with his usual level of care and detail:
