This is very strange indeed. It does look like a different
bug, so I would like to close this one. I have committed
this change as

Please report the remaining problem as a new bug report. It
would be good if you could analyse it with more detail, e.g.
by invoking ./python ... manually (with the same variables
that make sets); if it still fails, I recommend to run the
newly-built python in gdb, to produce a backtrace.
