The 'trace' module is new in Python 2.3.  There is no 
mention of it in the module listing at
doc/2.3/modindex.html nor is it documented in the 
"undocumented modules" chapter at
doc/2.3/lib/undoc.html .

(You would think as one of the coauthors for that module 
that I could be of help, but it's been about 4 years since I 
looked at it.  :)
