The IDE needs to get a more MacOSX-like look and feel. I would suggest using the standard fonts for the various UI components (I know how attached you are to Python-Sans, so let's reformulate that as "optionally using the standard fonts"), and making all buttons, scrollbars and other such elements the standard sizes.

All true, but there's SO much that's not 100% ok on OSX, that I'm
considering abandoning the W gui kit altogether. As long as I'm not sure
what the best way is (either a better gui kit based on Carbon or going all
the way with Cocoa) I don't want to spend all that much time on W and
IDE. So how's pyobjc coming along? ;-)

What time frame are you thinking? We need something decent for Python 2.3, and I would think that a complete W rewrite may be too much work. Note that I'm perfectly willing to do a bit of tweaking myself, as long as it's ok with you.

Jack, assigning to you, feel free to close it as "won't fix". What we really need is a new IDE, written with PyObjC.

The current IDE will have to suffice for 2.3, and we hope to have
something better in Cocoa shortly.
