bugs.python.org silently refuses registration if the user's "homepage" does not match some undisclosed URL validation test.

The fact of the validation failure of the "homepage" is not disclosed at any time, including both the initial registration and at activation time.

This appears to have been a "known" issue for at least a year, but is still not fixed.

Thanks for the report.
As you have found out, the issue tracker for the bug tracker itself is not here.

It seems to be a problem in upstream roundup.
