In my opinion, reopening this, in the absence of additional 
information that there really is a bug in Python itself, is an 
inappropriate waste of developer time.  Please reclose until such 
time as you do have such evidence.

Please take any further discussion of the general stability of the 
2.4 release to a more appropriate forum, such as 
comp.lang.python, or the corresponding mailing list.
