I opened a bug about testing demos and tools: #9153.

There was already a bug about cleaning up demos, #7962, so I’ve made it into a meta-bug for demos and tools, superseding this one. Steve, I’m adding you to the nosy there, but I don’t feel confident enough to raise the severity or add other people to nosy.
