I tried to install python-2.5.amd64.msi on my 
HP notebook with an AMD Turion 64 Mobile

and I got the error message 

"This installation is not supported by this processor
type."  

Is this really different than some other AMD 64, or do
you just fail to recognize the ID?

You should download the 32-bit installer, not the 64-bit
installer, as you apparently run a 32-bit operating system
(on your dual-mode 32/64-bit processor). The AMD64 MSI file
can work only on a 64-bit operating system.
